It’s the start of a new year. While January could be viewed as just another month, it symbolizes the beginning of a calendar cycle which is an invitation for us to think about new #habits we want to create, #goals we’d like to achieve, and where we want to see ourselves over the course of the next 12 months.
I have been personally pondering this opportunity. I have been wanting to start a blog and stick with it. At first I wasn’t sure I really wanted to do this. It’s a commitment and like everyone else, I’m “busy.” But the idea kept nagging me.
I decided that I will do it after all. It’s a great way to engage with a wide audience and a form of self-expression. So the next question I had to contend with was how frequently should I blog. Monthly seemed too far apart while daily seemed like too much to think about. That’s how I landed on a weekly commitment.
Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, I should introduce myself! I’m Sharon Grossman. I’ve always been interested in people. Since I was a little girl, I would sit and listen to adults talk. When I grew up and had to pick a profession, I decided on psychology because I found the work fascinating and the study of it inspirational. My post-graduate training and years of experience as a Psychologist have helped me understand personal patterns and in my life #coaching practice, it allows me to find blind spots in my clients.
We all have hidden biases, areas we are unaware of. My job is to help my already smart audience be wiser and more effective through insight-building and by sharing with them Evidence-Based tools they can use to better manage their emotions and body. I motivate them to see the possibilities available to them, help them overcome their fears so they can pursue such challenges, and thereby live their lives more fully.
As you may have picked up, I wear more than one hat. This is true both in my personal and professional life. At home, I am a mom of two young kids and the wife of a beautiful man who due to an unknown genetic mutation has lost his vision. Professionally, I am a therapist, a coach, a speaker, and a writer. In a word - an entrepreneur. I take challenges seriously.
To circle back around, I started this blog to share the culmination of my life’s work with others. No fun keeping it all in my head. I’ve been so moved seeing the effect of my work on my clients that I want to start a larger conversation with people everywhere. Specifically, I am writing for those who are what I consider WOW: Worldly, Open-Minded, and Willing to Take Risks.
Our limited resources force us to make good #decisions. We have jobs that take up the bulk of our time, so we need to ensure we are in the right career. We want money to give us freedom and more of our time back. We need relationships so we might as well ensure we’re associating with people who treat us with respect. We must start with ourselves, which is where we often struggle the most.
My approach is integrative. In my work I bring together the mind, the heart, the body, and the spirit. I don’t preach anything I don’t do myself. I start with me and motivate others to do the same while being as good of a role model as I can be.
Join me as we start 2018. Bring with you your goals and dreams. No matter what challenges you’re facing, we can learn and grow together.
